Set your heart above
Because we've been raised with Christ, Paul says, we get to take off an old way of life and put on a new one — like changing clothes.
Take off (vv. 5–9): anger, malice, slander, lying — the things that pull a community apart.
Put on (vv. 12–14): compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience — "and over all these put on love, which binds them all together."
And let the peace of Christ rule, the word of Christ dwell, and gratitude overflow (vv. 15–17).
