Rooted — Part 3: Rooted and Built Up

Rooted and built up

"Just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him" (v. 6). The Christian life isn't graduating beyond the gospel — it's growing deeper down into it.

Paul's images for maturity:

• Rooted — like a tree drawing life from good soil.
• Built up — like a house rising on a sure foundation.
• Established in the faith — settled, not blown around by every new idea.

Watch for anything that promises more than Christ but delivers less (v. 8).

Take it home this week

1. What "hollow philosophy" is tempting you to look for life somewhere other than Jesus?
2. What's one root that needs to grow deeper this season?
