Rooted — Part 1: Alive in Christ

Alive in Christ

Paul opens his letter to a young church he had never met with thanksgiving — because the gospel was already bearing fruit among them. Before he corrects anything, he celebrates what God has begun.

Three things to notice:

• The gospel is bearing fruit and growing all over the world, and in you (v. 6).
• Real faith shows up as love for one another (v. 4) — it's never private.
• Paul's prayer is not for an easier life, but for knowledge, wisdom, and endurance (vv. 9–11).

Take it home this week

1. Where have you seen the gospel bear fruit in your own life lately?
2. Who could you thank God for by name this week?
